Screenwriting

As a screenwriter and consultant, Sedgwick has worked with companies throughout Ireland, the UK and beyond. These include Deadpan Pictures, Greenlight Productions, Momodica (Malaysia), Abu Media, One Productions, Stormlight Productions, Causeway Films, Lunar Pictures, MoPraxis Films, Magma, RTE, BBC4, Zapala Media, CJ Cookson Productions, Armchair Films, Broadsword Productions and others.

Her work crosses genre and medium. It includes live action and animation, TV, feature and short films. Her series, Punky, was recognised as the first mainstream animation series in which the main character had special needs (Down’s syndrome) and won awards globally. It was aired in mroe than 100 countries, with 5 million hits onYouTube. Her last award-winning short film, Barzakh, was the story of an Afghan refugee arriving into the Irish asylum system.

She has also worked on a number of games, as well as developing her own for children with autism and their peers. You can access her filmography CV here.

In tandem, she tutored across the island and beyond and in 2018, she published Write That Script. This is a comprehensive, character-driven guide to writing your first screenplay (or honing your second, third, fourth!)

In 2016-7, she was also Screenwriter-in-Residence at Maynooth University and Kildare County Council Arts & Library Services 2016-7.

Schools/ libraries

Lindsay designs and delivers shorter courses and workshops tailored towards particular interests or themes for libraries, festivals, private companies and schools. They can be 3 x 2.5 hours, 1 x 2.5 hours, four x 2 hours, half-day, full day and two day.

Topics covered include an introduction to screenwriting, authentic character creation, series development – books and TV, visual storytelling, procrastination and breaking writer’s block, spinning stories across a series, crafting powerful scenes and dialogue, developing a TV series bible, pitching and more.

Topics for schools include Everyone Needs a Wulfie (7-10 years) and Visual Storytelling: An Introduction to Screenwriting (12-18).
