Excited about my first workshop in Hodges Figgis on March 5th at midday. Looking forward to all the fabulous and fantastical creatures that will come to life in the imaginations and on the pages of the children taking part - and some of the adults too! What a start to the year! First off, I did a guest lecture for the BA in Concept Art @uniofstaffs on visual narrative and storytelling. A bunch of incredibly talented young people capable of creating and designing characters, environments, worlds for games and animation! Then, having been invited to submit a card inspired by the last few pages of James Joyce's The Dead, I got to perform my two pieces of flash fiction with a fantastic selection of artists including @xeronaut1 at the wonderful Finch Gallery, London Fields. Thrilled to have been asked to take part in this exhibition - postcards and larger works inspired by the last few pages of Joyce's The Dead - created and curated by @carolinemccambridge. I'll be reading my piece on the opening night, with others including @xeronaut1 which is so exciting. Maybe you'll be in the area and can pop in??? Ah, the joy of brainstorming! Come and see us - @valinoratroy and me! Ardgillan Castle, Christmas Fair. All weekend 11am - 4pm. We are in the library with our books and bookish things! This weekend, I’m thrilled to have been invited to share a table with the amazing children’s fantasy writer, @valinoratroy at the Christmas Craft Fair in @ardgillancastle. I was really thrilled to be asked by the @irishwritersunion_iwu to design some bookish booksmarks that could be used to publicise the union. I love how they turned out, and the back is blank so you can write down that books someone just mentioned or an email of a new friend you've met at one of their networking sessions around the country. I've been making these and giving them away for years but this year I'll be sharing a table with the fabulous children's author @valinoratroy selling my books and also some handmade original bookmarks and keyrings at the Chriswtmas Craft Fair at @ardgillancastle on 29th and 30th of November, in case you fancy a jaunt to a gorgeous location and to maybe pick up some Christmas gifts! Fancy a haunted house for halloween? With evil plans afoot to sell her home, Libby resorts to desperate ruses to save her best friend, a purple shape-shifting, mischievous wulfen, who is stuck in the pipes, and save the only home she has ever known. Turns out, she's not the only one. When pitching your book as a potential film or TV project: Generally more important to evoke feelings than thoughts. Had a fantastic time at the Internatioanl Dublin Writers Festival last month, sharing the stage and the room with many fellow Irish Writers Union members. I was thrilled to meet two writers from an online screenwriting course I ran for the Irish Writers Centre during lockdown.
